FAISALABAD: Tarkhani police have rescued a woman whose father and brother allegedly chained her at their house to stop her from going to her husband.

Shabila Bibi said her father and brother had kept her in chains so that she could not live with her husband.

An informer had told police that a woman had been chained in a house owned by Shaukat Ali at Chak 221-GB, Nangli.

Police raided the house and found Shabila chained with a cot. Police released her.

During the initial investigation, Shabila told police that her brother, Ahsan, and father, Shaukat, threatened her with dire consequences if she returned to her husband, Zafar Khan. She alleged that her father used to threaten her with a pistol.

Police booked Ahsan and Shaukat under Section 342 (wrongful confinement) of the PPC.
