LAHORE: Following a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), Engr Azaz Ahmad took over the charge of the office of NTDC managing director, relieving Muhammad Ayub, deputy managing director (Planning) of the additional charge.

Mr Ahmad has already served the NTDC against different positions.

“After a long time, the NTDC has finally got a permanent MD. Previously the post of MD was being looked after by the ministry or the NTDC officials as a stop-gap arrangement,” said an official source. He said the appointment of an MD on an ad hoc basis always suited the power division, as it’s easy to remove such an officer from the post and appoint another one.

On May 20, the government had relieved officiating NTDC MD Engr Dr Khwaja Riffat Hassan, replacing him with Muhammad Ayub, on a temporary basis, allegedly after the former developed differences with the company’s Board of Directors on various administrative, technical and operational issues.
