LARKANA: Larkana Hindu Panchayat has condemned desecration of a temple in Bhong, Punjab, a day before and called for action against miscreants and strict measures to protect minority families living in the area.

The Panchayat president, Dr Dharampal, told Dawn on Thursday that the incident had on the one hand hurt religious sentiments of the minority community and on the other hand this extremely disturbing development could have serious implications for religious harmony in the country.

“We love our country and we believe such incidents are happening under a conspiracy to force the community to migrate,” he said.

He criticised Rahim Yar Khan district administration for lack of action against the miscreants who had ransacked the temple and demanded action under relevant sections of Anti-Terrorism Act and judicial inquiry into the incident.

Dr Dharampal, who was also president of PPP minority wing Larkana, called for legislation to check such incidents in future and provide protection to minorities.
