ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Committee (IPEMC) on Wednesday decided to keep educational institutions across the country, except Sindh, open in a staggered manner.

It was also decided that students would get five per cent additional marks in board exams. The committee will meet again on Aug 25 to review the situation.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, while speaking at a news conference after the meeting, said Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani had informed the IPEMC that restrictions had already been announced in the province till Aug 8.

Mr Mahmood said other provinces and administrative units had decided to keep schools open in a staggered manner with 50 per cent attendance and exams would take place according to the already announced timetable. However, universities and colleges will open without restrictions. He said it was also decided to give 5pc additional marks to the students in exams.
