LAHORE: Adviser to prime minister on interior and accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar on Tuesday told a sessions court he would have no objection if PTI MPA Nazir Chohan was released on bail in a case registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the complaint of the former.

An affidavit submitted before the court by Akbar’s lawyer said: “Accused Nazir Chohan admitted his mistake, sought an apology and showed remorse over his false allegations against the complainant for which the complainant had forgiven him in the light of Islamic injunctions of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and for the sake of Almighty Allah.”

It further stated the complainant (Akbar) had no objection to post-arrest bail of the accused in the case.

A counsel for Chohan asked the court to grant bail in the light of the affidavit of the complainant.

However, the court directed the counsel for the complainant to ensure personal appearance of his client or his authorised representative to endorse the affidavit.

The court will resume hearing on Wednesday (today).

The other day, the court had dismissed the bail of Chohan on merits and he moved a fresh petition for bail on the ground of the complainant’s no objection statement.
