Road to Sehwan

Published August 3, 2021

THERE used to be frequent deadly accidents on the 130km-long Jamshoro-Sehwan Road till the federal and provincial governments collaborated to start the construction of a dual-carriage highway. The work on the project started in April 2019 with the aim of completing it within a year. It has been two years now, but the construction of the road is nowhere near completion.

The delay in the completion of such an important project is beyond most people’s comprehension. Many commuters remain double-minded over taking or avoiding the road as it still has too many accidents on it. Moreover, the ongoing slow-paced construction has actually increased the time of travel between Jamshoro and Sehwan.

The project is believed to cost an estimated Rs14 billion, but even this massive amount is not enough to get the project meet the completion deadline.

Both the federal and provincial governments must take notice of this sluggish pace of construction, and expedite the process without compromising on the quality factor. The project must be completed as early as possible for the safety and mental peace of the passengers.
