WASHINGTON, Oct 31: The Pakistan embassy in the US has urged PIA passengers of Pakistani origin to reduce their luggage and enable the airline to carry more relief goods for quake survivors.

PIA officials complain that passengers usually increase their luggage as Eidul Fitr approaches.

“It will be nice if this Eid we think more about the earthquake survivors and less about taking gifts for our friends and relatives,” said Deputy Chief of Mission Mohammed Sadiq.

“This will be your contribution to the relief effort.”

The embassy has also urged Pakistani-Americans to stop collecting clothes for the earthquake survivors.

“It will be cheaper, and much more convenient, to buy the clothes in Pakistan. The community should focus on winterized tents,” said Mr Sadiq.
