HYDERABAD: A total of 129 candidates have filed nomination papers for election in 10 wards of Cantonment Board Hyderabad (CBH) to be held on Sept 9. Scrutiny of papers has started.
Of the total, 98 belong to six different political and religious parties, 35 are associated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan alone and 22 with Pakistan Peoples Party.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pak Sarzameen Party are also in the run for CBH seats this time. Banned Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan has also fielded six candidates in six wards. They have submitted their candidates’ papers.
PSP’s 14 candidates have submitted their papers for nine wards. Eight candidates of MQM Organisation Committee of Dr Farooq Sattar have also filed their nomination papers for five wards while two former councillors of MQM-P and five of PPP have also submitted papers to contest election.
Out of 129 candidates, nine have filed papers for ward I, 18 for ward-II, eight for ward-III, six for ward-IV, 14 for ward-V, 12 for ward-VI, 16 for ward-VII, 13 for ward-VIII, 17 for ward-IX and 16 for ward-X.
