LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Nazir Chohan has been booked in yet another [third] case lodged against him by the Green Town police, this time for allegedly hurling threats at the police officials deputed for security at a polling station during the July 25 AJK election.

The first information report was registered on the complainant of Green Town Station House Officer Saghir Ahmad who nominated the MPA and 25 party workers.

Chohan is a member of the Jahangir Khan Tareen group.

The complainant alleged that on the polling day, Chohan turned up with his coordinator Shahzad alias Balli and 25 other unidentified persons at a polling station established at D-2/5 of Green Town and tried to enter the premises. When the policemen stopped them for identification, they refused to give any reason to visit the polling station.

He said the MPA and his men insisted on entering the premises. As they asked him to get permission from the election commission, Nazir Chohan and his men misbehaved with the police officials and also threatened them with dire consequences.

He said a permission letter from the election commission was a mandatory requirement to enter a polling station. They later fled the scene, the SHO said.

Earlier, the Racecourse (Lahore) police and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested Chohan in two separate cases registered on the complaint of adviser to the prime minister on interior and accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar.

PHYSICAL REMAND: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday got a two-day physical remand of MPA Chohan.

The FIA cyber crime had arrested Chohan on Wednesday on the complain of Mirza Shahzad Akbar under sections 11 (hate speech) and 20 (offences against the dignity of a natural person) of PECA and r/w 298 (uttering words to wound religious feelings), 500 (punishment for defamation), 505(C), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the PPC and 29 Telegraph Act.

Mr Chohan and some others are accused of running `malicious and hate speech` campaigns against Mr Akbar on social media platforms. Chohan raised questions about the faith of Akbar.

FIA on Thursday produced Chohan before a judicial magistrate and got a two-day remand of the suspect.
