RAWALPINDI: Three children were allegedly sexually assaulted in separate incidents in the district, raising concerns about increasing incidence of crimes against minors.

The victim’s mother and a resident of Kallar Syedan told the police that the suspect had been blackmailing her son using videos and pictures that he had taken while sexually abusing him.

The suspect had also been extorting money from her son from time to time.

After registration of the case, police arrested the accused and later obtained his physical remand from the court of area magistrate.

Another woman lodged a first information report (FIR) with the Sadar Barooni police that her six-year-old son was playing with another boy of the neighbourhood when an elderly man appeared there and started sexually abusing her child.

She said as she saw her son being abused by that man, she started shouting to get help from neighbours, adding upon seeing her shouting, the suspect escaped from the scene. Later, the suspect was captured by Gulshan Abad’s management and he was handed over to the local police for further legal action.

In Pirwadhai’s Muslim Abad, area a teenage boy was sexually abused by a man on Wednesday.

Ghulam Abbas, complained to the police he along with his family had gone to attend namaz-a-jinaza of a relative leaving their teenage son at home.

He said as they returned home, they found their son lying unconscious. He said he immediately shifted his son to the hospital, who on the way gained consciousness and narrated his ordeal.
