GUJRANWALA: A judicial magistrate on Monday granted bail to PML-N Deputy Secretary Atta Tarar and others against Rs30,000 surety bonds.

Reports said on the AJK election polling day (Sunday), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and PML-N workers had a clash at a camp installed outside Government High School, Alipur Chattha. After police arrested dozens of PML-N activists, Atta Tarar, MNA Dr. Nisar Cheema, MPA Aadil Chattha, PML-N district president Mustansar Gondal along with workers reached the police station and demanded release of their party men.

According to police, the PML-N leaders allegedly tortured the staff and also tore their uniforms. The PML-N leaders attempted to hold a press conference in the police station building. The SSP (investigation) along with the Saddar SP and a heavy contingent reached the spot and managed dispersal of the PML-N workers.

The police allegedly tortured some journalists and snatched their cameras. At this the PML-N workers staged a sit-in outside the police station.

The police registered a case against Atta Tarar and 50 others for blocking road and violating the section 144. Police arrested Atta Tarar and some other activists and kept them in police lock-up.

On Monday, he along with others was produced in the court of judicial magistrate Muhammad Asif who granted them bail against Rs30,000 surety bonds.
