FAISALABAD: To deal with the monsoon related issues, the Faisalabad Water and Supply Company (Wasa) will borrow water sucking machines from Multan and Lahore Wasa offices.

The decision was taken at a meeting held with commissioner Saqib Manan in the chair on Sunday night at the Wasa office. The participants decided that assistance of the Lahore and Multan Wasa office would be sought to discharge rainwater from low-lying areas and sucking machines would be borrowed. People suffered a lot during Eid day due to the rainwater accumulated on roads and streets restricting their movement.

With consultation of the parliamentarians, the plan to clear the roads, streets, sewers and drains was also finalized. The participants decided that Wasa teams would remain present round the clock till clearance of the rain water. They also decided that 200 sever men would be recruited and generators would also be purchased for the pumping stations.

MNA Faiz Kamoka asked Wasa officials to improve their performance to readdress the public issues.

He said steps were also being taken to enhance the capacity of Wasa so that better services could be provided to the people by dealing with emergencies efficiently.
