LAHORE: Thieves took away valuables from the house of Tahir Zaman, the former captain of the national hockey team, in Phase IV of the Defence Housing Authority.

The unidentified thieves broke into the house of Zaman who was in Tokyo for the Olympics as a part of the managing committee to organise the hockey matches.

The family of Tahir Zaman had gone to their native village in Gojra to celebrate Eid, said a police official who added that when the family members came back on Saturday, they found the locks of the house broken and the valuables, including gold ornaments, missing.

The family submitted an application with the police to lodge a case against the unidentified thieves.

In another such incident, thieves took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from the Wahdat Colony house of an assistant security officer of the Punjab Assembly.

Naveed Sohail along with his family had gone to his native district Okara to celebrate Eidul Azha. Police have registered a case against the unidentified criminals.
