ISLAMABAD: A local court on Friday acquitted an accused in a double murder case.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Abida Sajjad acquitted Saleh Mohammad, who had been booked in a case registered with the Industrial Area police station on October 27, 2020.

Though the accused was not nominated in the first information report (FIR), he was arrested for murdering Irfan Mehboob and Suleman Majeed after the police recorded the statements of the complainant and some witnesses.

Subsequently, his name was added to the supplementary challan.

Earlier, IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani granted him post arrest bail against Rs50,000 surety bonds.

Advocate Farhan Nazir Kayani represented the accused before the ADSJ.

He argued that the complainant unnecessarily dragged Saleh in the murder case whereas he was innocent and had nothing to do with the crime.

After hearing the counsel and the lawyers of other parties, the ADSJ acquitted the suspect for want of evidence.
