RAWALPINDI: Unknown individuals kidnapped a man from his house while another received a letter demanding ransom in different incidents in the city.

In the first incident, a man, identified as Shahzad Rafi Toor, 44, had been living in R.A. Bazaar since returning from Iran about two months ago.

According to an FIR lodged by the victim’s father Rafi Taj, his son Rafi Toor, who was settled in Iran, returned to Pakistan two months ago with his family.

He said Toor and his family were at home when around half a dozen men, one of them armed, forced their way into his house on July 7 and interrogated them for two hours.

The complainant said later they took Rafi Toor with them along with the mobile phone of his children, his passport and ATM card.

Mr Taj said he searched for his son, but could not find a clue of his whereabouts.

The police registered a case under the section related to kidnapping and have launched a search for him.

Threatening letter received

In another incident, a man received a threatening letter from unidentified persons demanding a ransom of Rs2.9 million in Gulistan Colony area, police said.

Ijaz Shah lodged an FIR with the Civil Lines police, saying he was at his workplace when he received a phone call from his home that an unidentified person had delivered a letter for him.

He said in fact it was a letter threatening him to pay Rs2.9 million ransom otherwise he and his sons would be killed. He said the footage from CCTV cameras installed outside his house showed a man delivering a letter while his accomplice was standing with a motorcycle at the corner of the street.

The police launched an investigation after registering the case.
