HARIPUR: Armed robbers looted Rs6.6 million cash from a bank after holding the staff and security guard at gunpoint on GT Road, here on Friday.

Police quoted the manager of Allied Bank Sera-i-Saleh branch as saying that the bank staff was busy in routine work when at around 12 noon, four robbers wearing facemasks entered the branch and one of them overpowered the security guard.

The robbers who were armed with pistols collected Rs6.6 million cash and fled in a highroof van. The robbers, according to bank staff and police, also took with them the DVR set of the CCTV cameras installed in the bank building.

Later, the police reached the crime site and cordoned off the area and collected fingerprints and other pieces of evidence for investigation. The police are yet to register an FIR.
