ISLAMABAD: A decline in Covid-19 positivity ratio was seen in the capital on Tuesday.

According to data, the infection rate was recorded at 3.5pc down from 6.6pc reported a day earlier.

As many as 67 people were diagnosed with the disease on Tuesday whereas one person died. Officials of the capital administration said the deceased was a female patient aged between 30-39. She was a resident of Chirah.

During the last 24 hours 1,866 tests were conducted in the capital out of which 14 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 13 in 40-49, 12 in 20-29, 10 in 10-19, eight in 50-59, three each in 0-9 and 80 and above, and two each in 60-69 and 70-79.

Likewise, 10 cases surfaced in Lohi Bher, followed by six from G-11, five from G-9, four from I-9, three each from F-11, G-13, E-11 and E-7, two each from F-10 and Tarnol, and one each from Tarlai, G-10, Rawat, G-8, F-7, Kurri, Kirpa, F-15, I-12 and G-16.

In Rawalpindi, one patient succumbed to the virus while 59 more got infected. As many as 21 patients were discharged from the hospital after recovering during the last 24 hours.

The deceased was identified as Parveen Akhter, 58, resident of Dhoke Kashmirian. She was brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on July 12.

There are 474 active patients in Rawalpindi district out of whom 73 were in hospitals, including 10 patients who arrived from other districts, and 401 were home isolated.

As many as 21 patients are from cantonment areas, 16 from Potohar Town and seven from Rawal Town. Four patients arrived from Taxila and one from Gujar Khan. Four people are from Chakwal, two each from Attock and Haripur while one each was from Islamabad and Khushab.

Fifteen patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 10 at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 23 at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and 10 at Fauji Foundation Hospital.

There is one patient on a ventilator in Rawalpindi, 33 are on oxygen support and 24 are stable.

So far 20 Delta variant cases have been detected in the garrison city. Health authorities have kept them under home isolation and the district administration has imposed smart lockdowns in the streets where their homes are located.

“The condition of all the patients is stable and a team of doctors has being checking them. If needed, they will be shifted to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology for medical care,” said a senior doctor of the District Health Authority while talking to Dawn.

He said that the National Institute of Health (NIH) did not confirm more delta variant cases in Rawalpindi. He said that the samples of all contacts of these patients have been traced and had been dispatched to NIH for gene serology.
