FAISALABAD: City Tandlianwala police have arrested the principal of a private school on charges of torturing a student and detaining his father in a room at gunpoint.

The video of torture of Qasim, a student of grade five, was also shared with the police and the media as well which showed that principal Qamar slapped him at the school gate, knocked the boy on the ground and some of the passers-by intervened and rescued him.

Ghulam Dastagir, father of Qasim, said his son informed him that a student threw ink on Hadia, sister of Qasim, at the school on June 26. He said Qasim asked the student to refrain from doing so again.

He said the principal summoned his son in his office where he allegedly tortured Qasim with sticks and fists and medical report of torture was also available.

Dastagir said he along with a man [Naeem] had visited the office of the principal to ask him why Qasim was tortured. He said over this the principle got infuriated, allegedly threatened him with dire consequences and also locked him in a room through a guard at gunpoint. The principal got him detained for hours and locals came to rescue him, he added.

The incident took place on June 26 and police registered the case on Monday (July 12) when the footage went viral on the social media. The case was registered under sections 328-A, 342 and 506 of the PPC.
