LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), while adding some deserving cricketers in all the 93 teams after receiving criticism from various quarters, also announced the remaining three Provincial Cricket Association’s city coaches and also confirmed the revised schedule of the two-day City Cricket Association Tournament 2021-22.

Earlier, the PCB had planned that the event will start from July 5 but deferred it quietly as coaches of three provincial cricket associations namely Balochistan, Northern and South Punjab were not Abid Ali of Khizra Club, Lahore also raised the voice and he thanked the PCB chairman for taking prompt action against wrong selection. appointed at that time.

Though the PCB has made changes in all the 93 teams, around 20 players were added in Lahore’s six teams after reviewing their performance and facing criticism. The players were included after several city and clubs’ organisers had made the complaints to PCB chairman Ehsan Mani about the injustice done.

According to the revised schedule, the matches under Balochistan Cricket Association’s jurisdiction will start on July 24, while Central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh-phase matches will get underway on July 16 and Northern on July 27.

The PCB also announced the names of 13 coaches for Balochistan’s cities, 11 for Northern’s cities and 14 for Southern Punjab’s cities.

Meanwhile, the Board has also transferred former Test cricketer Salim Elahi as coach from East Zone of Lahore City to his hometown Sahiwal. However, no replacement for the East Zone Lahore has been made as yet.

“Furthermore and following a player performance review, which was part of the team selection process, some changes in the 93 squads have been made and the updated squad list is available here,” a PCB press release stated on Saturday.

“The two-day inter-city tournament is a pathway for the selection of the Cricket Association sides for the four-day first-class, non first-class three-day, 50-over and 20-over competitions in the PCB Ahmer Aziz (CCA Khuzdar), Syed Irfanullah (CCA Killa Abdullah), Barkat Domestic Season 2021-22, which will commence in September.
