BAHAWALPUR: The wildlife department on Friday lodged the two bears in the local zoo once again after getting them back from a resident of Yazman.

According to wildlife assistant director, Ibrar Ahmed, the bears were secured from one Tahir Abbas after the decision of the Bahawalpur Bench of Lahore High Court in favour of the department.

According to Ahmed, the department had challenged the decision of a lower court, which was in favour of the owner of the bears.

Justice Sohail Nasir of the high court set aside the order of the lower court and allowed the wildlife department to keep the bears with it. The department today lodged them in the local zoo after securing them from their owner.

It may be recalled that three months back, the wildlife department had recovered two bears from Tahir Abbas who had moved the court against the department action. The Yazman additional district and sessions judge had given the two bears in custody of Abbas.
