ISLAMABAD: Two students were picked by the capital police when they along with scores of others reached Express Chowk on Tuesday to stage a demonstration against physical exams of SSC and HSSC classes.

The police also used force to disperse the students when they were staging a sit-in at the roundabout.

Earlier, the students gathered in front of the National Press Club and staged a protest against the physical exams. They said they had taken online classes during the pandemic and were now not fully prepared to appear in the exams.

They demanded that the government should cancel the exams and promote students to next classes.

Later, some of the protesters marched towards D-Chowk for a sit-in, the police said. However, they were intercepted at Express Chowk by the police.

Negotiations were held with the students to conclude the protest but they refused due to which force was used, said the police.

Some students were then bundled into police vehicles. Later, the police succeeded to disperse the protesters.

Most of the students were later released except the two who were were shifted to the police station.
