CHITRAL: Rivals shot dead two brothers and a relative over an old enmity here on Saturday.

Police sources told Dawn that the victims were traveling to Drosh in a car when they were attacked.

They said that a relative of the assailants was murdered last year, and the three slain persons were going to the court in connection with the murder case when their car was fired at by the attackers.

The assailants made good their escape after the incident.

The deceased were identified as Iqbal and Tariq and their relative, Sher Azam.

In a separate development, a high school student ended his life by jumping into the river from a suspension bridge in Miragram No 2 village of Yarkhoon valley. The victim’s body was later retrieved from the water.

The local police identified the boy as Janbaz Khan.

The police have started an inquiry under section 174 of CrPC to ascertain the real cause that led the boy to end his life.
