LAHORE: A judicial magistrate at Model Town Courts on Wednesday allowed exemption from personal appearance to PML-N MNA Javed Latif in a case of inciting people against the state institutions till the filing of challan (police report).

A lawyer on behalf of Latif filed an application requesting the magistrate to exempt his client from personal appearance as the police were yet to file its report. The magistrate allowed the application and adjourned hearing for a date to be fixed after the submission of the challan.

Latif has already been released on bail in the case.

The Township police registered a case on complaint of citizen Jameel Saleem under sections 120/120B, 153/153A, 500, 505(i)(B) and 506 of Pakistan Penal Code. The sections deal with the offences of causing incitement against the state institutions including the army and promoting enmity between different groups.

In a television programme, he said his party would not say “Pakistan Khappay” (long live Pakistan) if anything happened to its vice president Maryam Nawaz.”
