BATKHELA: Work on the construction of divisional thalassaemia centre at the district headquarters hospital, Batkhela, will start soon with the cooperation of Saudi government. A total of Rs193 million has been estimated for the construction of the building and supply of furniture and machinery.

This was stated by medical superintendent of the hospital Dr Saeedur Rehman while addressing a press conference here the other day. He said that Rs50 million had been approved for the establishment of cardiology unit while construction of burns and trauma centre was also among new projects of the hospital.

He said that when he took charge in December 2018 he had prioritised the completion of the hospital’s under-construction building and provision of facilities for patients.

The MS said that construction of the hospital building was completed two months ago with the cooperation of district administration and political leaders of Malakand. He said they had computerised the hospital and installed 64 CCTV cameras in the building over the past two years.

He said during this time the monthly revenue of the hospital had been increased from Rs1m to Rs25m. He said under the Sehat Sahulat Programme around 578 patients were operated upon in the hospital in a month.
