KARACHI, Oct 26: The Election Commission has announced that the by-elections in three constituencies PS-106, 117 and 120 of the Sindh Assembly in Karachi will be held on Dec 10.

These seats were fallen vacant after the election of Muttahida Qaumi Movement MPAs Mustafa Kamal and Kanvar Naveed Jamil as nazims of the Hyderabad and Karachi city district governments while PS-120 was fallen vacant with the demise of MPA Ali Bin Hamid Zaidi. All three MPAs were elected on the MQM tickets in the last general elections held in year 2002.

According to the election schedule announced by the commission, the nomination papers will be invited from Nov 12 and the returning officer concerned will receive the papers on Nov 14 and 15.

The scrutiny of papers will be held on Nov 16 and 17 while appeals against rejection and acceptance of the nominations could be filed on Nov 19 which will be disposed off by Nov 22.

The candidates can withdraw their nominations by Nov 24 while the final list of candidates would be published on Nov 25 and polling will be held Dec 10. Acting chief election commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar has announced the names of returning officers and assistant returning officers for holding the elections.
