NAROWAL: The second exhibition of Islamic calligraphy and art was organised at the University of Narowal.

The event was organised by the Directorate of Student Affairs and teachers and students of the university participated. The exhibition featured Islamic calligraphy as well as fascinating works of art.

The Management Sciences Department students Kainat Malik, Maria Riaz and Maria Shahbaz presented their works. They said such an artwork helped them grow spiritually. Islamic calligraphy, they said, was the best way for promotion of Islam in an artistic way and it’s also a decent source of income.

Other students including Rahila Younas and Samia Tariq said Islamic calligraphy was the best hobby and it’s a good way to enhance creativity. They demanded that the government should open a proper department for calligraphy at the University of Narowal.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Tariq Mahmood said fine arts create positive trends in society.

“Our students should devote all their resources to constructive work which will also help them showcase their creativity,” he said.

He announced that various short courses would be launched during the summer semester under the Directorate of Outreach.

The university dean said the institution was striving for the provision of quality education as well as for character-building of the students and the Students Affairs Department had initiated various activities in this direction. He said curricular activities were being resumed after repeated delays.

Syed Babar Ali Zaidi, Head of Student Affairs Department, said Narowal was a populous city and the creativity of the students here was second to none.

“Our goal is to provide a platform to girls to showcase their talents,” he said. The vice chancellor also presented prizes to the students who participated in the exhibition.
