THIS is with reference to the article ‘Muslim-Jewish ties’ (June 2) which has not mentioned that Jews living in Middle Eastern countries and the Ottoman Empire were governed by different laws. The article appeared on the 80th anniversary of the ‘Farhud’, a tragedy in 1941, that saw Jews murdered in cold blood. In the midst of the Second World War, no country would accept them, and many of them arrived in Israel.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas is between governments. The majority of Jews and Palestinians want a peaceful and just solution to the Palestine issue. Hateful attacks are not helpful on either side.
