Aleem, Ahsan nominated to supervise PSL 6 final

KARACHI: Aleem Dar and Ahsan Raza, arguably country’s top two umpires, will officiate in the final of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on June 24, it was announced by the national cricket board on Sunday.

While announcing schedule of match officials, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s media release stated that Wednesday’s opening fixture of the Abu Dhabi leg between two-time former PSL champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars — the runners up of PSL 5 — Aleem, currently Pakistan’s sole representative on the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, will be partnered by Rashid Riaz as the on-field umpires with Shozab Raza monitoring TV replays and Mohammad Anees officiating as the match referee.

Anees will also take charge of the final where Asif Yaqoob, PCB Umpire of the Year in 2020, will be the TV umpire.

The board has further named Ali Naqvi, Javed Malik and Iftikhar Ahmed from the PCB Elite Panel of Match Referees to oversee the 20-match PSL with Zameer Haider and Faisal Afridi also nominated from the PCB Elite Panel of Umpires.

June 9: Lahore Qalandars vs Islamabad United (9:00pm PST) — Aleem Dar and Rashid Riaz (on-field umpires); Shozab Raza (TV umpire); Faisal Afridi (fourth official); Mohammad Anees (match referee).

June 10: Multan Sultans vs Karachi Kings (6:00pm PST) — Aleem Dar and Shozab Raza (on-field umpires); Rashid Riaz (TV umpire); Faisal Afridi (fourth official); Ali Naqvi (match referee).

June 10: Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars (11:00pm PST) — Asif Yaqoob and Rashid Riaz (on-field umpire); Ahsan Raza (TV umpire); Faisal Afridi (fourth official); Ali Naqvi (match referee).

June 11: Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators (9:00pm PST) — Aleem Dar and Shozab Raza (on-field umpires); Rashid Riaz (TV umpire); Zameer Haider (fourth official); Javed Malik (match referee).

June 12: Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi (9:00pm PST) — Ahsan Raza and Shozab Raza (on-field umpires); Aleem Dar (TV umpire); Faisal Afridi (fourth official); Mohammad Anees (match referee).
