TAXILA: Provincial Minister for Revenue Malik Mohammad Anwar Khan said the government is extending the land transfer system across the province after registry through an automated process.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a land record centre at Mianwala in tehsil Pindigheb of district Attock on Sunday.

Officials of the revenue department, Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) and Assistant Commissioner Haidar Abbas were present on the occasion.

He added that revolutionary steps had been taken in the Punjab Revenue Department to facilitate farmers and other people to root out corruption and to enhance revenue collection.

Mr Khan said during the last two years, 115 computerised land record centres and 20 mobile centres had been set up while 23 commercial banks given access to digital land records for the facilitation of farmers. An agreement has been signed between Punjab Revenue Department and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) regarding sharing of data. E-stamping has been introduced which has resulted in 80pc increase in income of the department, he said, adding after establishment of these land record centres, land-related problems of people will be solved.

He said record development had taken place in the revenue department while reforms were also being introduced to facilitate people.

PLRA has added a revenue of Rs7,456 million to the public exchequer under the head ‘land transfer and management’, he said, adding open courts are being held on a monthly basis in all land record centres across Punjab to solve revenue-related problems of people without any delay.

Later, the minister visited a Covid-19 vaccination centre, established at THQ Pindigheb and reviewed the vaccination process.

He examined the cleanliness and facilities provided to the visitors and inquired about availability of vaccines from staff. He got feedback from the public about the facilities and conduct of the relevant staff.
