FIA man rewarded for stymieing Shehbaz’s departure

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday gave a cash reward to its official for stopping opposition leader and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif from leaving the country for London.

According to the FIA, Lahore Director Mohammad Rizwan has handed over cash worth Rs10,000 and a commendation certificate to Inspector Rana Ijaz for discharging his professional duty at Lahore airport by stopping Shehbaz from leaving the country for London early this month as his name was on the provisional national identification list (PNIL).

The PML-N had blamed Prime Minister Imran Khan for ‘using FIA’ to create hurdles in the opposition leader’s departure despite the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) ‘clear order’ in this respect, terming the government’s action ‘contempt’ of the court.

I’m glad the inspector stopped Shehbaz from running away. However I believe the law enforcement agencies such as FIA, and police should be trained to treat everyone equally. In this case, the FIA staff had overly apologetic, and explanatory behaviour. Similarly the police are insulted by influential people on routine basis.

@Zulfqar Ahmed , Good work by FIA. Shahbaz is a looter and not a leader, with their families enjoying the wealth of poor Pakistani in the UK. Shariff khandan should stop manipulating poor masses to protect their looted wealth. If they are sincere, then they should move all their offshore assets to Pakistan.

Shahbaz Sharif wanted to rush out of the country even before written orders of the High Court were received by FIA or Home Ministry. And an on duty FIA official did a commendable job in not bowing to pressure of PMLN by thwarting Mian Shahbaz attempt. The inspector did his duty for which he would be thoroughly punished if PMLN ever came to power again. Shame on senior FIA officials who didn`t impart clear instructions to their subordinates about Mian Sahib attempt knowing fully his schedule.

PKR. 10,000 is nothing comparing the amount of corruption and money laundering committed by Mr. Shahbaz Shareef, however appraising such officers will motivate others also to work for the nation not for the politicians.
