PESHAWAR: An Elite Force man was martyred in an encounter with culprits here on Sunday.

The encounter took place in the jurisdiction of the Prang police station.

The police said a woman belonging to Shabra area had got registered a complaint against her cousins accusing them of manhandling her.

Taking action against the accused the police raided their house, but the culprits opened fire on the personnel, injuring constable Hassan Zaib. He died while being shifted to a hospital.

The raiding party chased the fleeing culprits and arrested Shehwar along with two brothers. A Kalashnikov and bullets were also recovered from them.

The martyred constable’s funeral prayers were offered in Charsadda police lines.

Later, the deceased was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Tangi village with official honour.
