TWO Muslims were killed and eight injured on Monday evening [May 20] when the Delhi branch of the Rashtriya Swamsewak Sangh made an organised attack with lathis and other weapons on the innocent and peace-loving Muslims of Anguri Ghatta, behind the Ramlila grounds, Delhi.

The trouble started when one Faiz Mohammad saw two Muslim boys, aged between 10 and 11, being beaten up by some Hindus near Harihar Temple, where members of the Sangh practise lathi and knife charges.

Faiz Mohammad went to the rescue of the Muslim lads when he was given a lathi blow from behind fracturing his skull and rendering him unconscious. After this any and every Muslim who was seen in the vicinity was openly attacked and injured.

Abdul Latif, the Mohalla Headman, and Siraj Uddin were killed on the spot while the condition of two others is reported to be serious. The injured persons were removed to the Irwin Hospital, where some were admitted with fractured bones and skulls. Almost all received injuries on the head… . It is significant that not a single Hindu got a scratch. It was an unprovoked and indiscriminate attack by the Sangh. The police is patrolling the locality and making inquiries.
