Quake victim succumbs to injuries

GUJRANWALA, Oct 22: An earthquake victim, who was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital from Muzaffarabad one week ago, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.

The CMH medical superintendent, Col Kamaldin, said the woman was brought to the hospital with head injuries and fractured legs.

He said the body would be sent back to Muzaffarabad where her family had been informed about her death.

He said the first batch of the injured was shifted to the Gujranwala CMH a couple of days after the quake. Seven of the injured were transferred to a Sialkot hospital.

GRANT: The Punjab government has released the first instalment of Rs220 million for the Gujranwala City District Government, District Nazim Chaudhry Fayyaz Ahmad Chattha said at a meeting on Saturday.

He said a special grant would be demanded for the construction of dilapidated roads in the city and the union councils would be given funds for launching the system at the grassroot level.
