ISLAMABAD: The capital administration on Tuesday extended the Covid-19 related restrictions on all gymnasiums for two more days.

Moreover, the twin cities saw an increase in Covid-19 cases while two patients passed away in Islamabad and one in Rawalpindi.

A notification issued from the office of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat stated: “In exercise of powers under Epidemic Diseases Control Act 1958, in partial modification of this office order issued on May 16, 2021, and also in compliance to the decisions of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and in order to curtail the spread of Covid-19 all gyms in Islamabad shall remain closed from May 18 to 20.”

Meanwhile, two more patients died in the capital and 150 new cases were reported. Officials said the death toll increased to 733.

In the last 24 hours, 1,999 tests were conducted out of which 150 were found infected. The positivity rate was 7.5 per cent.

There are 8,294 active cases in the capital, they added.

Rawalpindi

After a few days, the number of Covid-19 cases increased again as 192 people were found infected in the district on Tuesday.

Moreover, one patient died of the virus and 120 others were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours.

The deceased was identified as Malik Mohammad Arif, 72, a resident of Dhoke Syedan. He was admitted to the Hearts International Hospital on May 17.

At present, there are 931 active patients in the district - 147 in hospitals and 784 home isolated. As many as 665 patients are waiting for the results for their Covid-19 serology.

As many as 164 of the new cases arrived in hospitals from the garrison city - 59 from the cantonment areas, 53 from Potohar Town and 52 from Rawal Town.

Besides, six patients arrived from Gujar Khan, one patient each from Kotli Sattian, Jhelum and Lahore, four from Murree and three each from Islamabad, Chakwal and AJK.

Officials said 10 of the new patients were admitted to Holy Family Hospital, nine to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 47 to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, 24 to Fauji Foundation Hospital and one to the Hearts International Hospital.

Four patients are on ventilators, 70 on oxygen and 37 are stable.

Attock

As many as 1,935 patients have recovered while 125 lost their lives in the district of Attock since the outbreak of the disease. As per data released by the District Health Authority, 943 people recovered in the Attock city, 405 in Hazro, 202 in Fatehjang, 168 in Pindigheb, 96 in Hassanabdal and 90 in Jand.

Moreover, nine more people tested positive in the district on Tuesday, raising the tally to 2,110.

District focal person for Covid-19 Dr Kashif Hussain said all the new cases were reported from the Attock city. He said there were 135 active patients in the district and 129 of them were home isolated.

He said four suspected patients were also admitted to the district headquarters hospital in which three were in critical condition.
