LAHORE: The Punjab police have finalised security arrangements for Eidul Fitr and deputed 36,086 men across the province.

As many as 522 inspectors, 1,731 sub-inspectors, 3,461 assistant sub-inspectors, 2,508 head constables and 27,608 constables are among those who will discharge duties. The security arrangements were finalised at a meeting chaired by the inspector general of police on Tuesday.

The meeting was informed that security arrangements had been finalised for 25,249 mosques, Imambargahs and 807 open spaces in all districts of the province.

Eid security duty will also include 5,964 police national volunteers and 758 special police personnel, while 182 walk-through gates, 10,923 metal detectors and 2,680 CCTV cameras will be used for security of sensitive mosques and Imambargahs and minority places of worship.

The IGP directed the officials to use available resources for the security of citizens and Eid gatherings at sensitive mosques, Imambargahs and other places. He further said that senior officers should pay attention to inspection of security arrangements for Eid gatherings of A category and sensitive mosques, Imambargahs and minority worship places.

He further said that snipers must be deployed on the roofs of such places while CTD, special police and other forces should be deployed in and around these and undertake search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations in and around the slums.
