LAHORE: A man and his wife were found murdered at their Sabzazar residence here on Monday under mysterious circumstances.

The murdered couple – Sayed Anees (60) and Nasra Bibi (40) – lived on the ground floor of their house, while they had rented out the upper portion to a family.

They were allegedly killed by unidentified person(s) with some sharp-edged tool as the police found their throats slit.

A police official said the arms of the couple were tied with a rope when the police recovered their bodies. He said Anees had contracted marriage with Nasra after the death of this first wife. He had three children from his first wife – two sons, living abroad (London) and a married daughter living out of Lahore.

The police official said Anees’s brother-in-law, who lived next door, called police when he found his (Anees’) house locked form inside and no one responded despite repeated knocks. He said the bodies seemed to be a day old and the family living in the upper portion claimed they were unaware of the murders because they had a separate entrance to the house.

As per initial police investigations, the couple had no enmity or financial dispute with anyone, he said.

The sons and daughter of the slain couple were contacted by police but they could not provide any useful information that could lead them to the killers, he said.

The police investigators were trying to get a close circuit TV (CCTV) camera footage of the street for any suspecious movement around the house.

The bodies have been shifted to the city morgue for autopsies after the police registered a murder case against unidentified killer (s).
