SWABI: The police on Monday arrested two thieves and recovered stolen items from them.

DSP Swabi Shaukat Ayaz said the police arrested a thief from the Pehur High Level Canal and recovered a stolen motorcycle from him.

The arrested person identified as Abdul Sattar belonged to Karachi, he said, adding during preliminary investigation he also disclosed names of other thieves belonging to Jhanda village of Swabi.

DSP Topi Iftikhar Ali Khan said the police arrested Muqadas Khan of Bachai village and recovered stolen gas cylinders and fertiliser bags from him.

The accused was involved in various other theft cases, he added.

Also on Monday, a man belonging to Baja village was killed in a road accident.

The deceased was on way home when his bike collided with a rickshaw on Swabi-Mardan Road.

The body was taken to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy.
