Mother’s Day is just around the corner and many of you have already decided how to celebrate or make your mum feel special on that particular day.

Those of you who haven’t decided anything yet, and want to do something special, can create this cute flowerpot DIY even at the eleventh hour. Since we do have some time, let’s do it today so that you can feel relaxed and concentrate on other things!

Things you need:

  1. Three foam sheet pieces not more than six inches from all sides, (red, pink, green). You can change pink and red to any colours of your choice, but keep the green colour to make the base and leaf for the flower.

  2. Hot glue or white glue

  3. A-4 size paper (plain white)

  4. Pencil

  5. Scissors

  6. Green chenille string: 1

Directions:

  1. Draw a coil in bouncy shape, a star-like five petal flower, a leaf, and a 1.5 inches circle, then cut all out very carefully, pictures 2 and 3.

  2. Trace these white cut-outs on the coloured foam sheet respectively; leaf and flower base on green foam; bouncy coil strip on red; pot on the pink. Again, trace and cut the patterns from the foam sheets but this time, even more careful, see pictures 4 and 5.

  3. Take the red bouncy coil strip and start rolling to form flower, picture 6.

  4. Keep rolling and pasting in between rolling the strip until you reach the middle point, notice the rose coming into shape, when done, put it aside, picture 7.

  5. Fold the pink flower pot and paste the edges against each other, picture 8.

  6. Poke hole in the leaf, middle of the star-like flower and the pink circle, picture 9.

  7. Insert the chenille string first into a pink circle, then star – like petals and then leaf carefully. Paste the string to the bottom of the rose, picture 10.

  8. Roll the access chenille string back into the pot, or cut it out, picture 11.
