THE GRAPEVINE

Happily Ever After

Last week, actually a bit before that, social worker Jibran Nasir and actress Mansha Pasha tied the knot. Congratulations to them! It was an event in which only members of the bride’s and groom’s families, and some close friends, participated. The two had got engaged in 2019. As soon as the announcement of their marriage was made, messages of best wishes came pouring in on both social and mainstream media. We’d also like to wish the couple the best of married life, social work and acting achievements.

Mahira’s Artist

It’s magnanimous of Mahira Khan that she makes her staff, those who work in her team to keep her looking prim and proper, feel important all the time by posting their pictures on Instagram. Her recent tribute to make-up artist Adnan, who has been with her for the last 15 years (from her MTV days), is worth lending an ear to. “He’s my friend, my brother, my keeper of secrets. He knows when I’m upset and knows how to make me smile. He has seen me cry sneakily onset and held my hand through it. I have held him in my arms when he has broken down. We have laughed, cried, danced all night, eaten like crazy and travelled the world — all of it — together. He is my family.” Girl, you’ve made a big number of men jealous.

At Last

It’s over. It’s not. It’s over. It’s not. It’s over… After shilly-shallying and dithering for weeks, well, months to be honest, Hollywood hottie Jennifer Lopez and her baseball-playing beau Alex Rodriguez have officially split. In a statement released by the media teams of both celebs on April 15, the two said, “We have realised we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.”

We hope by shared business projects you guys mean ventures related to money… because if you get back together one more time as lovers, no one’s going to believe you.

She Says

So film star Meera’s clarification about her being detained at a mental health facility in the US and the subsequent, alleged, deportation from the country has come out. According to the Lollywood actress, her depression was misunderstood as mental instability because of which she was put in an asylum; but after the intervention of the Pakistani embassy in the US, she was let go. She also claimed that she’d reached Dubai to shoot a TV programme and not because she was asked to leave America. Meera attributed the hullabaloo to the “lobby that’s working against her.” Damn these lobbies. They don’t allow you to keep your sanity intact.

Unfollowed!

The battle has begun. Kartik Aaryan has declined to play one of the lead roles in Dostana 2 produced by Karan Johar’s company due to, as showbiz journos have been told, ‘creative differences’. This, obviously, hasn’t gone down well with K-Jo, who has tremendous clout in the Indian film industry. As a result, he has stopped following Kartik A on Instagram. This can be taken as the first step towards the unsheathing of swords between the young actor and the seasoned producer/director. There is no more dostana on any level now.

Katy’s Civilisation

Pop star Katy Perry is known for her opposition to social media. A couple of years ago she warned her fans that spending excessive online time is not good for society. Recently, the gal — who is engaged to actor Orlando Bloom and is now a mother of a baby girl — reiterated her stance on the matter by writing on Twitter that social media is trash and that it’s “the decline of human civilisation.” Hmmm… a famous political scientist might have called it the ‘trash of civilisations’.
