CHITRAL: Police claimed to have traced the alleged killer of a college student in Morder village of Upper Chitral within 24 hours of the incident.

Sources said that Azeemullah, a resident of the village, was arrested and he confessed to his crime.

They said that the reason of the murder could not be known.

However, DPO Zulfiqar Tanoli said although the alleged killer was traced yet he was not arrested.

Refusing to divulge information about the progress of investigation, he said that details would be shared with media after major development.

DEADLINE: The villagers of Istaru in upper Chitral have set the deadline of May 5 to the government for payment of compensation of the land acquired for diversion of road last year.

The villagers, in a meeting held here on Tuesday with Ashfaq Ahmed in the chair, said that they presented their land for Booni-Torkhow Road, which had been closed to vehicular traffic for five months due to the collapse of bridge in Istaru.

They regretted that the communication and works (C&W) department used their land for the alternate road and restored the traffic but they were being made to wait for their compensation for the last five months.

ROAD: Former MNA Shahzada Iftikharuddin has termed inauguration of widening of Chitral-Shandur Road an eyewash by the government to conceal its failure of retaining the mega project of CPEC alternate route passing through Chitral.

Talking to local journalists by telephone here on Wednesday, he said that the prime minister’s move to inaugurate widening of existing Shandur road in Peshawar disappointed the residents of Chitral.

He said that the people of Chitral would not accept anything less than alternate route of CPEC, which the PML-N government had approved.

He said that scrapping the project was tantamount to pushing back the area into backwardness with which the hopes of progress and prosperity would dash to the ground.
