KARACHI, Oct 18: The problems relating to the fisheries department came under review at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman here on Tuesday.

The meeting decided to initiate measures with joint collaboration of the Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority and the Fishermen Cooperative Society to strengthen the administration at the Karachi Fish Harbour.

It was agreed to ensure coordinated measures for effective sanitation at the harbour and outsourcing the same.

It was decided to entrust the secretary environment with the responsibility to check the sewerage conditions and take steps for environmental improvement while all the problems of fish harbour to be resolved by promoting mutual coordination between all the stakeholders.

It was decided that the DG marine fisheries would issue certificate for transferring Transaction Space K-1 to the Fishermen Cooperative Society while work on K-4 Space would start from Friday.—APP
