QUETTA: An accountability court on Monday sentenced three employees of a bank to 18 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs180 million for fraud and embezzlement of millions of rupees belonging to 57 account holders.

Judge Allah Dad Roshan of the accountability court in Quetta announced the verdict.

According to NAB, cashiers Altaf Hussain, Nizamuddin and Yar Mohammad conspired to embezzle cash and cheques of 57 bank account holders by transferring deposits of these account holders into several other accounts.

NAB filed a reference after gathering evidence against them in the case referred by the bank.

In the light of the NAB team’s investigation and evidence, the court sentenced the three bank employees to undergo a total of 18 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs180 million.
