As the third wave of the pandemic surges in Pakistan, the country reported 100 coronavirus deaths for a second consecutive day. A hundred deaths were reported during the last 24 hours while 105 were reported a day earlier.

Meanwhile, 5,139 cases were also reported during the last 24 hours. This is the third day in a row the country has reported more than 5,000 cases. The national positivity rate stands at 10.4 per cent.

Breakdown of deaths and cases reported:

  • Punjab: 2,628 cases, 57 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 1,190 cases, 33 deaths
  • Islamabad: 729 cases, 4 deaths
  • Sindh: 314 cases, 2 deaths
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 191 cases, 4 deaths
  • Balochistan: 81 cases
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 6 cases
