LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday reported 58 more deaths from coronavirus during the past 24 hours, taking the death toll from the virus in the province to 6,851.

Moreover, 2,711 new cases were reported in Punjab during the same time, taking the total number of Covid-19 patients in the province to 243,295.

The highest number of new cases, 1,347, was reported in Lahore, besides 239 in Rawalpindi, 158 Faisalabad, 115 Multan, 96 Sargodha, 72 Bahawalpur, 69 Gujranwala, 49 Sialkot, 47 each in Sahiwal and Rahim Yar Khan, 42 Khushab, 39 Chiniot and 32 each in Jhelum and Gujrat.

The health department spokesman said they had so far conducted over four million tests, adding that 199,941 patients had recovered in the province.
