KOHAT: The Kohat police seized 150 litres of home-made liquor and six kilogrammes of hashish in separate actions and arrested two alleged smugglers on Wednesday.

Following strict orders of district police officer Sohail Khalid to cut the supply line of drug smuggling, Saddar police SHO Afzal Awan acting on the information of district special branch stopped a pickup van at the interchange and recovered 150 litres of liquor from it, which was being smuggled out of Kohat.

According to police, the accused, Shakir, was arrested and sent behind bars after registration of a case against him.

In a similar case, the SHO of cantonment police stopped a suspicious car (J-6123-Peshawar) coming from Orakzai district at Kaghazai post.

According to police, during search of the driver, identified as Naimat Baz of Ferozkhel area of Orakzai, they found six kilogrammes of hashish with him. He was arrested and shifted to the police station where a case had been filed against him.

transfer of plots: The tehsil municipal administration here on Wednesday banned the transfer of plots on the agricultural land.

Tehsil municipal officer Mohammad Shoeb told this correspondent that the model town on the agricultural land in Jarma and Al Madina Society had been banned.

He said that cases of 15 new societies were under process and after completing all requirements and checking they would be allowed to start work.

The TMO said that they had registered FIRs against several societies who had gone for litigation, but work was suspended on them.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Abdur Rehman in a notification on Wednesday extended the ban on constructions on state land and collective properties whose index and schedule had not been issued, and land near streams by 60 days.
