KARACHI: Pakistan’s natural gas production has touched a 15-week low, while oil production showed a marginal hike.

Shankar Tarlega of Topline Securities said the country’s total gas production plunged by 19pc to 3,352mmcfd on the week ending March 23 from 3,381mmcfd on March 16.

He attributed low gas production to lower offtake from Uch and Mari fields.

He added Mari field at peak time was dispatching gas over of 700-750mmcfd which is now less than 700mmcfd.

He said Uch field offtake remains dependent on demand generated from the national grid based on merit order.

Weekly total oil production during the week rose by 2pc to 76,588 barrels per day from 74,799bpd during March 16.
