RAJANPUR, Oct 16: A raiding team of the regional directorate audit has unearthed a financial scam of Rs9.7 million in the local health department. In its report, the audit team revealed that Rajanpur DHO Dr Shehnaz Naeem had misappropriated Rs9.7 million under the heads of medicines and general store items.

It said that Dr Shehnaz could not satisfy the audit team when quizzed about the purchase of medicines and general store items worth Rs9.7 million.

The report further said that the DHO had embezzled the amount and inflicted a heavy loss to the national exchequer.

The audit team had asked the DCO and EDO (Health) to take action against the Rajanpur DHO, but so far nothing has been done in this regard.

It is learnt that the DHO has strong links with high-ups of the provincial health ministry which provide her protective shield.
