RAWALPINDI: Robbers continued their looting spree in the garrison city depriving people of cash and valuables worth millions of rupees.

There were nine robberies in which nine motorcycles and two cars were also lifted on Saturday. In addition, eight incidents of theft, house break-ins and mobile snatching were reported to the police. Rashid Karim, one of the robbery victims, was shot and injured after he tried to resist the robbers. The injured was taken to hospital by rescue services where he was stated to be out of danger.

Mr Karim complained to the Racecourse police that he was busy with customers when three persons entered his shop and pulled out their guns.

After snatching Rs20,000 from him and Rs15,000 from the customers, the robbers asked him for more money. When he told the robbers to go and and earn money by working, they shot and injured him and escaped.

Ghulam Mohiuddin, a resident of Waris Khan, complained to the police that two motorcycle riders snatched Rs18,500 from him at gunpoint outside his house.

Furqan Raza complained to the New Town police that he was standing with his friend near Nawaz Sharif Park when two armed motorcycle riders snatched their mobile phones and escaped. In Sadiqabad, Ijaz Ahmed’s family was robbed of Rs200,000, two mobile phones and a laptop valuing Rs50,000 by two robbers.

Nadeem Shahzad said in his complaint to the Sadiqabad police that he had arrived at a clinic on his motorcycle when a man held him at gunpoint and took away his bike.

Bilal Ahmed complained to the Naseerabad police that he was on way to home when a bike rider intercepted him and snatched a mobile phone from him at gunpoint and sped off.

Wasim Ahmed Abbasi lodged a similar complaint with the Naseerabad police stating that he was sitting at his shop when four men took the customers at gunpoint. He said the robbers snatched Rs250,000 from the customers and sped off on motorcycles.

Mumtaz Ali complained to the Airport police that he was sitting at his pharmacy when two motorcycle riders pulled up and took him at gunpoint and snatched Rs16,500 and a mobile phone.

Syed Awais Shah Bukhari lodged an FIR with the police saying that he was returning home after attending a marriage ceremony when two motorcycle riders snatched Rs27,500 and a mobile phone from him.

Zahidullah said he was waiting for a public transport when two motorcycle riders stopped nearby in Taxila and tried to rob him. When he tried to resists the, the armed men shot and injured him. Shoaib Hassan, a resident of Wah, was robbed of Rs35,000 by two gunmen while he was on way home.

Besides, two cars were also taken away by vehicle lifters in the city.
