Rapist sentenced to 10-year jail

LAHORE: A sessions court on Friday sentenced a man to 10 years in jail on the charge of raping a girl for refusing his marriage proposal.

The North Cantonment police had registered a case against Zaheer Iqbal under section 376 of Pakistan Penal Code in 2018. The survivor was a student of graduation and a relative of the convict.

As per the prosecution story, the convict sedated the survivor by mixing sleeping pills in her tea and sexually assaulted her. The forensic report confirmed the commission of the rape by the convict.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali also imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on the convict in addition to the jail term.
