KARACHI: A local court has remanded in judicial custody a suspect detained for ‘blackmailing’ a girl and posting her indecent pictures on social media.

The FIA claimed to have arrested the suspect over his alleged involvement in blackmailing a girl and sharing her pictures on social media.

The investigating officer produced the detained suspect before judicial magistrate (East) Imran Imam Zaidi to seek his physical remand for interrogation.

He informed the court that a complaint was lodged alleging that the suspect was blackmailing the daughter of a complainant on the basis of her purported objectionable pictures. He mentioned that later the suspect shared those pictures on social media. He asked the judge to grant physical remand of the suspect in the FIA custody for interrogation and completion of investigation, which was still incomplete. However, the judge remanded the suspect in judicial custody with direction to produce him on the next date. The girl’s mother told journalists outside the courtroom that the act of the suspect had ruined their lives, since marriage proposals of her three daughters were allegedly taken back following the incident of the pictures of her daughter.
